Sui Nears 17 Billion Transactions As New Account Growth Hits A Three-Month High

Numbers on a Sui blockchain explorer rarely feel dramatic in the moment. They just climb, quietly, refresh after refresh, until one day you scroll past a figure and realize it’s genuinely enormous. That’s the moment the network is having right now.

Pull up Suiscan today and you’re looking at a network that has processed north of 16.5 billion cumulative transactions, is onboarding new wallets at a pace it hasn’t seen in three months, and is simultaneously running one of the more unusual token-economics experiments in the industry. None of it is loud. All of it is verifiable. And together, it’s a better story than most of the headlines circulating about Sui right now.

Total Transactions On Sui Are Closing In On The 17 Billion Mark

Start with the raw scale, because it’s the kind of number that’s easy to undersell. According to live data pulled directly from Suiscan’s mainnet dashboard, Sui’s total transaction count now sits above 16.7 billion, with total transaction blocks separately crossing 5.9 billion. On a single recent 24-hour window alone, the network added over 27 million new transactions, meaning the climb toward 17 billion isn’t a slow crawl, it’s happening in real time, day by day, at a pace that would take the milestone out within weeks rather than months if current throughput holds.

To put that in perspective: Sui didn’t cross even its first billion transactions until roughly 90 days after mainnet launched in May 2023. It crossed 8 billion by January 2025. It surpassed 10 billion by May 2025. It broke 16 billion just weeks ago, in early September 2026. The distance between each of those thresholds has been shrinking, not widening, a pattern that only shows up when a network’s baseline usage is genuinely compounding rather than spiking on a single viral app or incentive campaign.

You don’t have to take a headline’s word for any of this. Suiscan’s live explorer publishes total transactions, total transaction blocks, checkpoints, and rolling 24-hour deltas in real time, updated block by block. Anyone can pull up the Suiscan Mainnet Dashboard right now and watch the counter move.

New Accounts On Sui Just Hit A Three-Month High

The transaction count tells you the network is busy. The account growth tells you who’s showing up to make it busy and that number just spiked in a way worth paying attention to. Suiscan’s live data currently shows total accounts on the network above 248 million, with a single 24-hour period adding more than 171,000 new accounts. That figure comfortably clears the 150,000 mark and represents the strongest daily onboarding pace Sui has logged in roughly three months.

Sui Nears 17 Billion Transactions As New Account Growth Hits A Three-Month High

New account growth is a noisier metric than cumulative transactions, it swings with campaigns, airdrops, game launches, and market sentiment, which is exactly why a genuine multi-month high is worth flagging rather than dismissing. It suggests fresh wallets are actively being created and funded on the network right now, not just existing addresses transacting more. Whether that’s driven by renewed retail interest, ecosystem incentives, or the wider “agentic” and AI-payments narrative Sui has been leaning into this year, the underlying data point is the same: onboarding accelerated, and it’s happening on-chain where anyone can check it.

The Buyback Program Behind The Scenes

While usage and onboarding climb, the Sui Foundation has been running a quieter, separate initiative that’s worth understanding on its own terms: a daily, on-chain SUI buyback program funded entirely by stablecoin yield rather than treasury liquidation or new token issuance. The mechanism is straightforward. Sui earns revenue from network gas fees and from gross yield generated on the float backing stablecoins issued on the chain. The Foundation then uses that yield to buy SUI on the open market every day, with the repurchased tokens redistributed back into the ecosystem, to DeFi protocols, validators, and other participants, rather than burned.

Sui Nears 17 Billion Transactions As New Account Growth Hits A Three-Month High

For anyone who wants the actual numbers rather than a paraphrase, the Sui Foundation publishes this data itself, live, on the Sui Official Buybacks Dashboard. As of the most recent snapshot on that official dashboard, year-to-date network revenue, combining gas fees and gross stablecoin yield, stands at roughly $2.1 million, with total stablecoin float on the network at approximately $449.3 million held across 3.6 million addresses. The page updates daily and includes a full transaction-level buyback history, so every individual purchase is traceable rather than taken on faith.

Sui Nears 17 Billion Transactions As New Account Growth Hits A Three-Month High

It’s a genuinely different funding model than the buyback-and-burn programs seen elsewhere in crypto: nothing here is minted or destroyed, supply is unchanged, and the entire loop is designed to scale with stablecoin adoption rather than token price speculation. Combined with a transaction count nearing 17 billion and an account base growing at its fastest clip in three months, it rounds out a picture of a network where the on-chain fundamentals are moving in the same direction, verifiably, and in public.
