Crypto hardware wallets, often called cold wallets, offer a secure and simple way to store cryptocurrencies. Unlike online wallets, they can’t be hacked and don’t expose private keys to any internet-connected network, providing users with confidence in the safety of their digital assets. These wallets only connect to the internet when linked to a computer to carry out transactions, and once disconnected, they are inaccessible online.

When you invest in a hardware wallet with a secure backup system, durable construction, and compatibility with multiple blockchain networks and token standards, you can trust that your crypto is as safe as it can be.

In this article, we’ll explore some of the top crypto hardware wallets on the market today, highlighting their key features, the assets they support, how they manage security, and their pros and cons.

17 best crypto hardware wallets: Examining top digital asset storage options for August 2026

Below, you will find detailed reviews and the pros and cons of some of the best hardware wallet options. Hopefully, this will help you narrow down your search and decide on the best wallet for your needs.

    1. Ledger Nano X – The best cryptocurrency wallet on the market for most users

Ledger is a France-based company with the largest market share in the hardware wallet market. The Ledger Nano X is one of the brand’s flagship products. This highly secure hardware wallet comes with a CC EAL5+ certified secure element chip.

Nano X supports over 2,000 cryptocurrencies natively, which can be expanded to more than 15,000 cryptocurrencies with external services. Nano X, which can be connected to smartphones and PCs via Bluetooth and USB, supports Android and iOS operating systems on mobile devices and MacOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems on desktops. The integration is mostly seamless across different devices, as we already outlined in our Nano X review.

    Price $99
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 15,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB, Bluetooth

Despite Ledger’s decade-long presence in the hardware wallet manufacturing business, no data exploits or vulnerabilities have been detected so far in its hardware wallets. The private keys of the wallets are not stored on the computer or smartphone but instead live on an offline device that is used exclusively to sign transactions.

Ledger Live software allows you to easily manage cryptocurrencies and seamlessly generate and restore your seed phrase. Nano X, which can store up to 100 applications (think BTC wallet, ETH wallet, etc.), also has an OLED screen. These applications give the wallet the ability to support multiple blockchain networks and use various DeFi services and products. The Nano X also supports Ledger Recover, a subscription-based service that allows users to access their wallet even if they lose the seed phrase backup.

One advantage of the Ledger Nano X is that it can integrate with Metamask and other Web3 hot wallets. This allows users to access DeFi platforms and blockchain dApps, leveraging the superior security of the Ledger Nano X. At $99, the Ledger Nano X is one of the cheaper options compared to the market average. Combined with the Nano X’s robust security and Web3 integrations, that puts it at the top of the list of best hardware wallets in 2026. In addition, Ledger offers a Family Pack of 3 Nano X devices for just $267, which is a great value if you need more than a single device.

    Pros of Ledger Nano X:

    • Supports 15,000+ cryptocurrencies
    • USB-C and Bluetooth connections
    • Capacity for up to 100 applications
    • Certified secure chip (CC EAL5+)

    Cons of Ledger Nano X:

    • The interface takes some getting used to

    Buy Ledger Nano X

    2. Ledger Nano S Plus – A more affordable alternative to the Nano X

Ledger Nano S Plus is one of the best crypto hardware wallets

Ledger Nano S Plus is a secure, high-quality, and easy-to-use crypto hardware wallet. The wallet, which has many of the features of Nano X at nearly two-thirds of the price, has been among the most preferred cold wallets of crypto investors since its launch.

Ledger Nano S Plus can manage over 15,000 cryptocurrencies and store up to 100 applications. The wallet, which has advanced security systems independently audited by ANSSI, has less storage space than the Nano X. Nano S Plus has no Bluetooth connection support and can only work when the USB connection is active.

    Price $49
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 15,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB

The product comes in five different colors, including Matte Black, Pastel Green, Amethyst Purple, and Retro Gaming. Those looking for a Bitcoin wallet solution will be happy to learn that Ledger Nano S Plus comes in the BTC Orange color scheme as well, which complements the wallet’s security features with a nice thematic touch.

Like in other Ledger products, a seed phrase is required to set up a new device. When transferring the wallet to a new Windows PC or other supported platforms, the Ledger Live software provides a streamlined process that can be completed in just a few minutes.

It’s worth noting that Ledger also sells the Nano S Plus in bundles. The Ledger Family Pack S Plus costs $132 and includes three S Plus wallets, saving potential buyers around $15 compared to buying three individual devices.

Pros of Ledger Nano S Plus:

    • Supports over 15,000 cryptocurrencies
    • It is an affordable alternative to Ledger Nano X
    • One of the most popular hardware wallets in the market
    • Certified secure chip (CC EAL5+)

Cons of Ledger Nano S Plus:

    • No Bluetooth connectivity support
    • The controls can be a bit cumbersome

    Buy Ledger Nano S Plus

    3. Trezor Safe 5 – Trezor’s flagship hardware wallet model

Trezor Safe 5 is one of the best crypto hardware wallets

The Trezor Safe 5 is a next-gen hardware wallet that elevates both security and usability. It’s the first Trezor to feature a vibrant 1.54″ color touchscreen with haptic feedback, known as Trezor Touch, offering a tactile and intuitive way to confirm every transaction. Built with open-source transparency, it features the EAL 6+ Secure Element chip for maximum offline and online protection.

This wallet introduces an enhanced 20-word recovery backup with optional Multi-share Backup support, making it easier and safer to recover your assets if the wallet is lost. Trezor Safe 5 is protected by PIN and passphrase entry on the device itself and includes a microSD card slot for added protection. Its Gorilla Glass 3 display ensures durability, while the sleek anodized aluminum backplate adds premium flair.

    Price $129
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 9,000+
NFT Support Yes (via 3rd party apps)
    Connectivity USB-C

Trezor Safe 5 supports thousands of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and ERC-20 tokens. When connected with the Trezor Suite desktop app or third-party wallet apps like MetaMask, one of the best NFT wallets available in the market, users can send, receive, stake, and trade coins securely. Its robust compatibility spans Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android, but it currently lacks a dedicated iOS app.

Model T is not just a cryptocurrency wallet. It can act as a 2FA device via FIDO2, and supports coin control and Tor integration for enhanced privacy. With CE and RoHS certifications, tamper-evident casing, and a minimalist 23g build, this is a hardware wallet designed for crypto users who prioritize both security and comfort.

    Pros of Trezor Safe 5:

    • Vivid touchscreen with haptic feedback
    • Gorilla Glass screen and anodized aluminum build
    • Supports Multi-share Backup and microSD protection

    Cons of Trezor Safe 5:

    • No native iOS support
    • Higher price tag than entry-level options

    Buy Trezor Safe 5

    4. Trezor Safe 3 – A midrange hardware wallet from Trezor

    Trezor Safe 3

The Trezor Safe 3 is a sleek and reliable hardware wallet tailored for users who want robust crypto protection without a premium price tag. Designed with Trezor’s hallmark open-source architecture, the Safe 3 includes a Secure Element chip (EAL 6+) that safeguards private keys even if the device is physically compromised.

Though more minimalist than the flagship Safe 5, the Safe 3 still offers strong functionality and user-focused features. Its monochrome 0.96″ OLED screen allows you to verify transactions directly on the device. PIN and passphrase protection ensure local security, while integration with the Trezor Suite desktop app provides full coin management—including sending, receiving, and staking.

    Price $59
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 9,000
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB

The Safe 3 doesn’t support microSD or touch input, but it delivers dependable cold storage for thousands of assets at a fraction of the cost. With native support for major blockchains and compatibility with third-party apps like MetaMask, it’s a trusted tool for everyday crypto holders and newcomers alike.

Trezor Safe 3 is compatible with Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android systems. Like its bigger sibling, it lacks native iOS support, but can still be used with browser extensions or web interfaces. The device also supports Tor integration and coin control through the Suite app for privacy-conscious users.

    Pros of Trezor Safe 3:

    • Secure Element chip at an affordable price
    • Trezor Suite integration with staking and privacy tools
    • Lightweight and easy to use

    Cons of Trezor Safe 3:

    • No touchscreen or haptic feedback
    • No native iOS app
    • Lacks microSD support

    Buy Trezor Safe 3

    5. Cypherock X1 – Top-notch security without a traditional seed phrase

    Cypherock X1

The Cypherock X1 stands out as an innovative hardware wallet, addressing key security challenges faced by crypto holders with its unique multi-card system. Unlike traditional wallets that rely on a single seed phrase, Cypherock X1 utilizes encrypted NFC cards to store private key fragments securely, significantly reducing the risk of theft or data loss. By incorporating Shamir’s Secret Sharing, it splits the private key into five parts, requiring only two of the five cards to recover funds, offering customizable access and enhanced security. This decentralized storage approach minimizes the single point of failure risk common in conventional wallets.

    Price $99
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 9,000
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB-C

As we mentioned in our review of the X1, the wallet’s security system uses EAL6+ certified elements, the same technology found in credit card chips, ensuring bank-grade security. Compatibility with over 9,000 cryptocurrencies makes it ideal for diverse portfolios, and the device offers advanced functionalities like crypto inheritance planning. While the absence of a mobile app may deter beginners, the wallet’s advanced features and affordable price point cater well to experienced crypto users and businesses.

The wallet is designed for both individual investors and enterprises, offering flexibility for managing personal crypto portfolios or integrating secure payment solutions for businesses. The intuitive setup process and robust recovery options make it practical despite its complexity. Free from subscription fees, the wallet provides a one-time investment for full control over digital assets. With its focus on security, multi-asset support, and decentralized storage, Cypherock X1 presents a comprehensive solution for secure crypto management, positioning itself as a compelling alternative to traditional hardware wallets.

    Pros:

    • Shamir’s Secret Sharing and EAL6+ guarantee robust security
    • Simple setup and intuitive interface
    • Supports thousands of cryptocurrencies
    • Legacy inheritance feature

    Cons:

    • The advanced features might overwhelm first-time crypto users

    Buy the Cypherock X1

    6. Trezor Safe 7 – Next-gen Trezor wallet with upgraded security

    Trezor Safe 7

Trezor Safe 7 is the latest flagship model from Trezor, introducing a new benchmark in open-source, self-custody security. Priced at $249, it is the first hardware wallet designed to be quantum-ready, featuring an auditable dual-chip setup that combines the open-source Tropic Zero One (TROPIC01) chip and an NDA-free EAL6+ secure element. This design allows full third-party inspection — a first in the industry — ensuring transparency without compromising protection.

The wallet sports a 2.5-inch edge-to-edge color touchscreen that is 62% larger than its predecessors, encased in a one-piece aluminum frame with a Gorilla Glass 3 backplate. With an IP54 rating, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support, and Qi2-compatible magnetic wireless charging, the Safe 7 brings both durability and modern convenience. The built-in LiFePO₄ battery offers up to four times the charging cycles of standard lithium cells, providing long-term reliability for frequent users.

    Price $249
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 9,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity Bluetooth, USB-C, Qi2 Wireless

Through the Trezor Suite platform, users can manage thousands of cryptocurrencies, trade, stake, and connect to third-party DeFi services from one interface. Connectivity is secured by the open-source Trezor Host Protocol (THP), which encrypts and authenticates all wireless communications.

The Trezor Safe 7 comes in Obsidian Green, Charcoal Black, and Bitcoin Orange, with optional accessories like a privacy screen, flip case, and wireless charger. A Bitcoin-only edition is also available, with early preorders including a complimentary Magnetic Qi2 charger.

    Pros:

    • First hardware wallet with quantum-ready security architecture
    • Fully auditable and open-source dual-chip design
    • Premium aluminum and Gorilla Glass construction
    • Wireless Bluetooth and Qi2 magnetic charging support

    Cons:

    • Higher price compared to entry-level wallets
    • Bulkier than older Trezor models due to larger screen

    Buy Trezor Safe 7

    7. Ledger Nano 5th Gen – Latest Ledger model with improved performance

    Ledger Nano 5th Gen

The Ledger Nano 5th Gen is the latest addition to Ledger’s iconic lineup, bridging the gap between affordability and premium functionality. Priced at $179, it offers nearly the same features as the top-tier Ledger Flex and Ledger Stax, but at a lower price point. The device marks Ledger’s shift from calling its products “hardware wallets” to “signers,” emphasizing their real purpose — securely signing transactions rather than storing coins directly.

The Nano 5th Gen is the first Nano device equipped with a 2.76-inch E Ink touchscreen, making interactions smoother than ever. Its CC EAL6+ certified Secure Element ensures enterprise-level protection for private keys, while Bluetooth and NFC support enable seamless wireless connectivity. The plastic construction makes it lighter, though it lacks the premium metallic finish of Ledger’s more expensive models.

    Price $179
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 15,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB-C

Out of the box, it includes a Ledger Recovery Key, allowing users to create a PIN-protected NFC backup of their recovery phrase — a major security improvement over traditional paper backups. It also ships with a USB-C cable and recovery sheets. Users can manage thousands of cryptocurrencies through Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live), stake assets, and access Web3 dApps directly.

The Nano 5th Gen is available in multiple colors and can be customized with a lock screen image for a personal touch. The E Ink display ensures long battery life, while the interface offers access to device settings, security options, and advanced features like passphrase creation and PIN shuffling. For a more detailed look at the device, check out our Ledger Nano 5th Gen review.

    Pros:

    • First Nano model with an E Ink touchscreen
    • NFC-enabled Ledger Recovery Key backup
    • Excellent security with CC EAL6+ certified chip
    • Wireless connectivity via Bluetooth and NFC

    Cons:

    • Plastic build feels less premium than Flex or Stax
    • Slightly pricier than the Nano X
    • Not ideal for users who prefer button-based interfaces

    Buy Ledger Nano 5th Gen

    8. Ledger Flex – A premium option with an E Ink touchscreen

    ledger flex

The Ledger Flex is Ledger’s latest hardware wallet, designed to combine high security with a smooth user experience. Its 2.84-inch E Ink touchscreen offers a clear and comfortable way to review and authorize transactions, a notable upgrade from Ledger’s Nano models. Compatible with desktops, laptops, and smartphones via USB-C and Bluetooth, the Flex is versatile and user-friendly.

    Price $249
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 15,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB-C

Users can store up to 100 crypto applications, with support for over 15,000 assets through third-party integrations, while its EAL6+ CC-certified secure element chip ensures top-tier protection for sensitive information. For more information about the wallet’s security, consider checking out our Ledger Flex review.

However, at $249, Flex’s price may not appeal to everyone, especially those who only need a wallet for long-term storage or occasional transactions. Its higher cost can be justified if you frequently transact or appreciate the larger screen and customization options like personalized lock screens with images or NFTs. For those with an even larger budget, Ledger’s $399 Stax offers additional premium features. Ultimately, whether the Flex is worth it depends on how much you prioritize convenience and advanced features in your crypto wallet.

    Pros of Ledger Flex:

    • 2.84 inch E Ink touchscreen display
    • EAL6+ CC certified secure element chip
    • Can be used with laptops, desktop computers, as well as mobile devices
    • USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity

    Cons of Ledger Flex:

    • Large and heavier than cheaper alternatives in Ledger’s lineup
    • Expensive compared to virtually all other hardware wallets

    Buy Ledger Flex

    9. Tangem – A cold wallet with a credit card form factor

    Tangem wallet

Tangem is arguably the most unique wallet featured in this article, as it has the form factor of a credit card and has no display. This wallet is designed to be used in combination with devices that support NFC (near-field communication), such as smartphones.

    Price $54.90 (2 Card set)
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 16,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity NFC

Despite its minimalist design, Tangem supports more than 16,000 different crypto assets and 85 different blockchain networks. The wallet adheres to the EAL6+ security standard and has undergone a rigorous audit by Kudelski Security. Tangem usually sells its wallets in packs, so that users can easily have a backup wallet. There can be up to three cards in a Tangem wallet set.

The Tangem wallet is an interesting choice if you like the form factor and portability. It’s also arguably easier to use than hardware wallets with awkward button interfaces and small screens. Notably, Tangem also offers a replacement warranty that applies for more than 25 years.

    Pros of Tangem wallet:

    • Extremely portable
    • 25-year replacement warranty
    • Supports over 85 blockchain networks

    Cons of Tangem wallet:

    • Must be used with an NFC-compatible device

    Buy Tangem Wallet

    10. SafePal S1 Pro – Crypto hardware wallet with a large color screen

SafePal S1 Pro is one of the best crypto hardware wallets

SafePal S1 Pro is one of the most unique devices on our list. Its large color screen makes crypto management easy for newcomers, thanks to intuitive navigation methods and the lack of cumbersome physical buttons, which can sometimes make the learning curve a bit steep. The S1 Pro supports tens of thousands of coins and tokens across more than 100 different blockchains.

The device is equipped with a secure CC EAL5+ chip, the same chip that’s found in Ledger devices as well. It’s built out of aluminum alloy and tempered glass, which gives the device a premium look and feel.

    Price $89.99
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 30,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB-C and QR Code

The SafePal S1 Pro is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows, and MacOS. The SafePal features a streamlined design that makes managing cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens easy.

    Pros of SafePal S1 Pro:

    • Color screen
    • User-friendly crypto app
    • Wide range of supported cryptos
    • Very competitive offering at the price point

    Cons of SafePal S1 Pro:

    • Lacks Bluetooth connectivity

    Buy Safepal S1 Pro

    11. Ledger Stax – Premium crypto wallet for power users

    Ledger Stax

Ledger Stax is by far the most premium wallet on our list. Designed by the famed Apple designer and “the father of iPod” Tony Fadell, the device boasts a large e-ink display, a sleek finish made out of premium materials, and all the bells and whistles that Ledger has to offer. The device has been selling like hotcakes, with the first two batches selling out nearly as soon as they were announced by Ledger.

    Price $399
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 15,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB-C

Ledger ships its premium wallet with support for NFTs, a customizable lock screen, Bluetooth connection, wireless charging, and, perhaps most impressively, a curved e-Ink touchscreen display. The main difference when comparing Ledger Nano X vs Stax is that the former has a much smaller display (measuring 128×64 px, compared to Stax’s 400×672 px) and doesn’t allow users to customize their home screens.

The Ledger Stax integrates a robust suite of security features and is certified by the Common Criteria EAL5+ and EMVCo security standards. It also features a secure element chip, which is designed to protect user information and assets. Additionally, the device is equipped with a recovery seed, which can be used to restore your wallet in case of device loss or damage.

Despite its impressive features and unique look, it’s hard to justify the $399 price tag. From the software standpoint, Stax doesn’t offer anything that Nano X (and even more affordable, Nano S Plus) doesn’t provide. Whether Stax’s design and the convenience of having a large display are worth nearly three times the asking price of Nano X is for you to decide. If you want to learn more about the device, make sure to read our Ledger Stax review.

    Pros of Ledger Stax:

    • Premium design
    • Large e-ink display
    • Supports 15,000+ cryptocurrencies
    • USB-C and Bluetooth connections
    • Capacity for up to 100 applications
    • Certified secure chip (CC EAL5+)

    Cons of Ledger Stax:

    • Way more expensive than any competitor
    • The interface takes some getting used to
    • E-ink display has slow refresh rate

    Buy Ledger Stax

    12. Bitkey – Self-custody Bitcoin wallet

    bitkey hardware wallet

Bitkey is Block’s foray into the Bitcoin hardware wallet realm, adding to their repertoire that includes the financial platform Square and the mobile wallet Cash App. Although Block is traditionally associated with conventional finance, its venture into Bitcoin, demonstrated earlier through Cash App, is evident in the design of Bitkey.

With its distinctive look and user-friendly design, Bitkey is tailored for easy and secure Bitcoin management. The wallet enhances safety through a recovery system that integrates three-key security, cloud backup, and trusted contacts, mitigating the risk of losing Bitcoin access.

Price $150 (includes lifetime Trust Contact recovery subscription)
    Supported Cryptocurrencies Bitcoin
    NFT Support No
    Connectivity USB

The wallet operates on a multisig (multiple signature) basis, requiring two out of three approvals for transactions. Users hold one private key on their phone, another in the Bitkey, and a third in the cloud. To boost security, the phone and cloud keys can’t approve high-value BTC payments without user-set limits.

Despite its innovative approach, Bitkey’s major drawback is its cost. Priced at $150, it stands out as pricier than competitors like the Ledger Nano X, and it exclusively supports Bitcoin, which might limit its appeal. However, the price includes a lifetime subscription to Bitkey’s suite of recovery tools, which allows users to recover their Bitcoin even if they lose their phone, wallet, or both. If you are not interested in these features, you can purchase the wallet alone for $99. You can also choose to pay a monthly fee of $2 per month for recovery features if that’s what you prefer.

    Pros of Bitkey:

    • Three-key security system
    • Cloud recovery
    • User-friendly design
    • Developed by Block (the company behind Cash App)

    Cons of Bitkey:

    • High cost
    • Supports just Bitcoin
    • Potential risk associated with cloud storage

    Buy Bitkey

    13. SecuX V20 – Stylish wallet with Bluetooth support

SecuX V20 is one of the best crypto hardware wallets

SecuX V20 is a crypto hardware wallet with a Secure Element chip to store private keys and PIN codes. Equipped with a 2.8″ touchscreen, the wallet supports multiple operating systems and platforms with USB connectivity. Robust, stylish, and useful, this wallet features a premium metal exterior.

SecuX V20 supports over 10,000 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Tether, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Stellar. This hardware wallet, which also supports thousands of Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies, is the top model of the SecuX brand. The wallet’s private keys are generated and stored offline. The wallet can also integrate with third-party wallets.

    Price $139
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 10,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity Bluetooth, USB-C

With a price tag of $139, the V20 comes with a responsive touchscreen. There is a power button on the device. Larger than most devices, this hardware wallet uses the SLE Solid Flash CC EAL5+ Secure Element chip. This protects your private keys and PINs from intruders.

The first time you turn on the SecuX V20, you are prompted to set a 4-digit PIN code. If you enter this PIN code incorrectly 4 times in a row, the device will erase itself. This is a necessary precaution so that no one can access your cryptocurrencies. The wallet also includes support for a password known as 25th-word protection. The Hidden Wallet feature, which allows you to create a separate wallet and password inside the wallet, adds an extra layer of security to the hardware wallet. You can set a password of up to 99 characters to set up a Hidden Wallet.

The online interface called SecuXcess is located inside SecuXTech. When you want to connect your device to another device via Bluetooth or USB, you must confirm using this program.

    Pros of SecuX V20:

    • Encrypted Bluetooth support is available
    • Supports multiple passwords and signatures

    15. Shift Crypto BitBox02 Nova– Crypto wallet capable of connecting to a full Bitcoin node

    Shift Crypto BitBox02 Nova

BitBox02 Nova is a cryptocurrency wallet that provides simple and secure storage of cryptocurrencies. The wallet, which makes it easy to control cryptocurrencies thanks to its intuitive user interface, has added high-level security measures thanks to its dual-chip design. BitBox02 Nova’s source code has been audited and verified by independent security researchers.

What differentiates BitBox02 Nova from other hardware wallets is that it can work with a microSD card containing the wallet’s backup information. This eliminates the need to always enter a 12- or 24-word phrase to run the wallet. Originally inspired by features from Ledger and Trezor, this wallet combines both physical security and open-source transparency. The Nova version improves on the original by adding a crystal-clear tempered glass display for better durability and readability, iOS compatibility (including iPhone and iPad), and optional Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support via Whisper, a custom architecture that encrypts communication using a dedicated chip with no access to wallet secrets.

    Price $175
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 1,500+
    NFT Support Yes
Connectivity USB-C (Adapters for USB-A and Lightning included)

BitBoxApp is the backbone of the BitBox ecosystem. The user interface of the application is quite simple and straightforward. Using the ATECC608A secure chip, the wallet has a 120 MHz microcontroller chip. In this way, multisig installations take place faster. At the same time, the communication between your computer or mobile device and your hardware wallet is encrypted. This prevents those who exploit data by attacking intermediaries and provides great security.

BitBoxApp has a Tor forwarding feature. So you can get more security and privacy inside the default app. BitBox02 Nova supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and more than 1,500 cryptocurrencies. There’s also the Bitcoin-only edition of the BitBox02 Nova, which supports BTC exclusively and costs $10 less.

Pros of Shift Crypto BitBox02 Nova:

    • Capacitive touch controls
    • OLED display
    • Open source
    • Original packaging includes USB-C adaptor, MicroSB card, rubber pulls, and extension cable

    Price $149
    Supported Cryptocurrencies 5,000+
    NFT Support Yes
    Connectivity USB-C

The advanced fingerprint biometric authentication system of the wallet ensures that it cannot be used even if it is stolen by someone. Private keys will self-destruct if the device is suspected of being tampered with.

Still, there is an option to use the wallet via either USB or Bluetooth if you find the convenience to be worth it.

Despite the fact that it can only be used with Bitcoin (and the Liquid sidechain), the Blockstream Jade can be used with an assortment of Bitcoin wallet software, including Electrum, Blockstream Green, BlueWallet, and many others.

The bottom line: Find the best crypto hardware wallet for your particular needs

Using a hardware wallet is a very important part of investing in crypto. As the demand for cryptocurrencies and NFTs increases, different kinds of fraud and hacking methods are all but certain to increase as well. While in the past, crypto wallets only served for secure storage, now wallets offer many integrations and DeFi functions that ensure that cryptos are both secure and always ready for use in everyday transactions.

Depending on the features you need, there are large discrepancies in prices between various wallet products. On the low end, it is possible to buy a wallet for $49, while those looking for more functionality and usability can expect to spend $150 or more. While the price might be steep in some cases, remember that the level of protection a hardware wallet provides is well worth the cost, especially if you are in control of a relatively large portfolio. Also, if you are worried about having your crypto seed phrase stored as securely as possible so that you can recover currency stored in your crypto wallet in case of theft or malfunction, we suggest you take a look at our selection of the best seed phrase storage options.

As mentioned, hardware wallets are a very important part of securing your crypto. But they are not the only part. Find out how you can cover all the bases and hold your crypto safely.
